Embed 'other' Google Drive files

Embedding 'Google Docs' files in a Google Site is easy. Just open the editor, click Insert and select the type of file to insert from the list.
Embedding .ppt, .doc etc files is slightly more involved.
For these files, start by opening the file from Drive. Click on File>Embed Link and copy the HTML given
Then go to your site, edit the page, click on <edit HTML source> and paste the HTML into the page and save. Google Sites automatically inserts an iframe gadget.
You can take the same steps for any file type supported by Google Docs Viewer.

UPDATE 2016
To achieve this the steps taken have now changed.
Open the file from Drive. Click the three dots menu and select Open in a new window. Then select the three dots menu and select 'Embed Item'. Then proceed as before
